Freshwater Traditional Stringed Fretted Musical Folk Instruments

Here in our Fretted Folk Musical Instruments Workshop, is an example of just some of our hand-crafted fretted stringed folk instruments (that are available as acoustic or electric) that are awaiting some final setting up and individual customisation details according to each customer's wishes prior to delivery.

Every FRESHWATER instrument crafted by us is handmade in specialist quality timbers that range from Rosewood, Mahogany, and American Black Walnut, to Maple and are completed with a satin finish lacquer to enhance the quality of tonewoods used.

With every handmade traditional instrument that we make for our customer, we feel confident that we offer a very personalised service, to meet the customers' own requirements whether it be a left-handed playing preference, or choice of soundhole (between a "Round", "A-shape" or "Celtic design") or even choice of soundboard timber type, box size or fittings (i.e. machine heads and tail pieces)

Apart from the Mandolin-family group of folk instruments that are hand crafted here (i.e. mandolin, mandola, bouzouki, cittern and madocello; with different styles available of these).(PLEASE SEE PRODUCTS PAGES).
we also offer several other ranges of stringed instruments, including the harp, especially the traditional Celtic harp or Clarsach as it is known, with varying string types, and not forgetting the hammered Dulcimer, which is available in two different styles.

Here in the Scottish Highlands, all of our folk instruments are made with the customer in mind, whether for a present to someone or for playing in a band, or folk club. We handcraft to a high quality from the Luthier himself, but maintain the price to be affordable to our customers.
